January Favourites

I can't quite believe that I'm typing up the first monthly favourites posts of the year - I don't know about anyone else but for me January really went on forever?! If truth be told, I'm quite glad to be seeing the back of it as I always find that it really is the worst month in the entire year - everyone just seams so down in the dumps. As far as trying and testing out new beauty products, I found that there wasn't a lot that new apart from the odd few bits that I treated myself too around the end of the last year and the start of January....

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter

As most of you know I love body butters, especially really indulgent and heavily scented ones. For Christmas I received a few of these small 50ml tubs including the one shown in this months favourites post. I've completely fallen in love with the Body Shop Body Butter that comes in the satsuma scent. This is really surprising for me as I'm usually not a fan of body products that smell like oranges but this one smells wonderful. The smell of satsuma is very overpowering, but for some reason I love how strongly scented this body butter is. What I really love is how the smell of satsumas transfers on to your skin and lingers around for hours after application. I find it really refreshing and I can imagine this will be an amazing body butter to use in the summer. Not only does this body butter smell citrusy and fresh but it does great and hydrating and nourishing your skin.

Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick - Sweet Tart

I picked up this Lipstick from Collection at the beginning of the month and I've worn it non stop throughout January. For those of you who have been reading my blog for some time will know that I have a weakness for pink lipsticks and this Lasting Colour Lipstick in the shade Sweet Tart is such a 'Danielle' colour. I wont go into too much detail about this lipstick as I'm planning on getting a full review up soon, but the shade is really similar to MAC Chatterbox which is also a favourite of mine - So that makes this lipstick a winner!

Barry M Lipliner - Pink

This Barry M Lip Liner is an old favourite of mine, but one which I've dug out again because I've ditched my berry toned lipsticks and swapped them for pretty pinks (I just can't wait till Spring). I love how soft and creamy the Barry M Lip Liners are and I'm pretty sure I own every shade that they do. This bright fuchsia pink one works perfectly with most pink lipsticks and pairs with the Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick in Sweet Tart wonderfully.

Pixi Redness Reducing Primer

If you read my full review of this Pixi Primer (here) you will know that this is the first primer that I've properly tired and tested and I love it. This Redness Reducing Primer from Pixi does exactly what it says and does a fantastic job at evening out your skin tone and reducing the appearance of any red patches or blemishes that you may have. I love how it creates the perfect base for my foundation to sit on too. I would definitely recommend trying out this primer if your on the lookout for a new one.

Bed Head TIGI Urban Antidotes Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner

For the longest of time I've always felt that using any Bed Head product on my hair has been a luxury and complete hair heaven. So when I picked this Urban Antidotes duo from a Hair Salon what was closing down near me I was expecting it to do great things on my hair and it will come as no surprise to you all that it did. I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for every hair wash during January and I have loved the way my hair looks and feels since using them. I don't want to give too much away here as these amazing hair products deserve a post of their own - But they have done a brilliant job at strengthening and popping some much needed moisture into my hair. Not to mention they make my hair smell fabulous, if your hair is needing some TLC and a bit of extra shine then I'm sure you will love this shampoo and conditioner just as much as I do.

So that's everything that's made it into my favourites post this month, I would love to know what you've been loving and if any of your favourites match mine. And someone please tell me that I'm not alone when I say I'm ready to bring out all my Spring makeup?

Pixi Redness Reducing Primer

I think a good primer is one of those items in your makeup bag that you either love and cannot live with out, or completely none existent as you've never bothered to purchase one and see what all the fuss is about! Sadly for the longest of time I've been the latter and I've never bought into or seen the hype or fuss around primers - until now that is.

A little while ago before Christmas I won a Twitter competition that the brand Pixi we're running and it was to win one of their Redness Reducing Primers. I was pretty excited about winning and was looking forward to trying and testing out my first primer. I have to say I've been so impressed with the results and I feel that since winning the Twitter competition I've had a little life changing moment when it comes to my everyday makeup routine as I will now reach for this primer every morning without fail!

I love the feel of this primer on my skin as once applied it gives my skin a lovely smooth satin finish and my skin feels so soft. I find that it makes a great base for my foundation to sit on and applying my foundation becomes a much easier and effortless task in terms of blending when I use this Pixi Primer. One thing that I was always worried about when using a primer is that it could possibly be too heavy on my skin and not sit right with my moisturiser and my other makeup that is used once applied the primers been applied. However I was really surprised at just how lightweight this primer is, it was almost like it absorbed into my skin right away and left it looking pretty flawless.

One thing that I think makes this primer pretty special is the fact that it's a 'redness reducing' primer, which is why its a pale green colour (green beauty products do a great job at cancelling out any redness on your skin). Although the colour is a little bit off putting, as its not the colour you'd normally put on your skin, it does such a great job at hiding any red marks that you may have. In the morning I am terrible for having little blotchy red patches on my skin, especially around my cheeks and nose and this primer erases (until washed off) all of those red patches which is amazing. Not only does it give your skin the illusion of having a great even complexion, but your skin is not left with any green tinge either, which is a huge relief.

As well as reducing redness this Pixi Primer also contains Vitamins A & E, plus Aloe Vera which is great for soothing and helping calm down any inflammation on your skin. It's a huge plus knowing that this primer is doing some good to my skin as well as helping it to look fabulous.

As for packaging, I have to say I adore the simplicity of it and I love how the colour of the packaging matches the colour of the primer. Pixi is a brand that I've heard a lot about, but have never gotten around to trying until now. I have to say I've been so impressed with this Primer and am eager to try out more products from the Pixi range. If any of you ladies have tried and tested out any other Pixi products I would love to know your recommendations?

Overall I've been loving this Pixi Redness Reducing Primer and I'm now officially a lover of the primer! I would love to know what primers you love and what ones you recommend!
