Mummy Post | Archie's 3 Month Update

Where has the time gone? I swear I'm forever asking this question on my blog, but this year is going so crazily fast. I was supposed to get this post up last week, but time just ran away with me. My little Archie bear is now thirteen weeks old, which I can't get over. I couldn't sleep the other night and was flicking though all of his videos and photos and the ones that where taken when he was first born just made me tear up. I just can't believe how much he's changed and how much he's growing up. Because I'm with him every single day, I don't always notice the little change in his facial features, it's only when I look back that I see a huge difference. I mean its good that he's growing up, but I'm just in shock at how much has changed in just a short space of time. As these moments are so precious I feel the need to document it all, and I know you guys love these update posts, so here is Archies three month update.

Sleeping

I'm pleased to report back that Archie is still loving his sleep. He is such a good night time sleeper and if you read his two month update post (here) you will know he started sleeping through the night at this age. What I'm finding now though is that he's just sleeping that little bit longer. So he will have his last feed a lot earlier in the evening now and is usually asleep in his bed by ten. He usually starts waking around half 6 in the morning and his first morning feed is at 7. This is pretty much our routine everyday now, so he really is settled. During the day he doesn't sleep that much, he tends to have one big nap that lasts for around 2 hours and will then have light cat naps throughout the day.

Interaction

One of the biggest changes that I can see between this month and last month is Archies awareness and he's really starting to find his voice and interact so much more with myself and James. I don't think he knows his name yet, but when you ask him questions, we get lots of cooing and baby sounds which is just the cutest; It's like he's really trying to talk to us. Theres also a lot more smiling and every smile literally makes my heart melt.

Archie's also becoming aware of his own body and I think slowly he's starting to get his hand eye co-ordination. He's not picking up any objects yet, well not intentionally anyway, but he is starting swing the toys that dangle down on his play mat and he keeps trying to put his fists in his mouth. Speaking of awareness, just last week he's started to take an interest in the t.v. James was delighted as the first programme we noticed him watching was Top Gear, followed by the football! So this week I've been putting on Junior Disney Channel and he really loves it.

It's really lovely that he he's starting to keep himself entertained, as before he wanted my constant attention and whilst thats lovely, it just meant I couldn't never get anything done as I couldn't leave him alone for more than five minutes.

Feeding

Archie still loves his milk. He has around 5 to 6 bottles a day and the weekend just gone we upped some of his bottles to 7 ounces instead of 6 as he just seems to be getting hunger. I know a lot of parents start weaning their babies at 4 months, but we were told by the health care advisor to start at 6; To be honest were not really sure what we want to do yet. I feel that by the end of this month he might want more food because he is a hungry baby. I would love to know what your thoughts are on this and if you have any tips or suggestions please share them with me.

Body Changes & Movement

So Archie is now or has been wearing clothes that are 3 to 6 months, but even some of those are starting to get a little tight on him. My boy has really long legs and arms, I mean with his daddy being over 6 foot I'm not really surprised. Archies pretty much now supporting his own head, he does need my hand there all the time just incase, but now he's doing a pretty good job on his own. I think the next step for him is sitting up on his own; he's almost there! I think in the next few weeks this will be something he starts doing. He also hates tummy time! Every time he goes down on his front, he gets really frustrated and starts crying uncontrollably. I'm trying to do it a few times with him everyday, but it literally only lasts a few minutes - Again if you have any tips for this please share.

I just love how Archie is really coming into his own right now and I love seeing bits of his personality come through. He makes me laugh all the time with the funny little things he does. I can't wait to see what this month brings and see how he progresses. I'll be sure to keep you all unto date.
