NOTD | Cheerleading Colours and Giveaway!

Hello Beauties.

I have a quick NOTD for you this evening. I am so happy and pleased with this beautiful turquoise/teal nail polish I picked up whilst I was in Turkey. A lot of you who follow me on Twitter will know that I do cheerleading and our team colours are Teal, Black, White with a dash of pink thrown in there. As the main colour is teal I have been forever searching for that perfect teal/turquoise colour and I'm pleased as punch that I finally have my hands on the perfect 'cheerleading colour'.

Now I'm pretty sure the make of this nail polish is not a Turkish one just because it's called GR Golden Rose Paris Nail Lacquer, but I've never seen this brand in the UK and when I saw the colour I wanted to buy and try immediately.

I have to say, the overall packaging and look of the bottle doesn't really do anything for me, but I was amazed at the formula of this polish. Two coats was all that was needed to get the desired colour that you see in the bottle and I've also found that wearing this polish with a topcoat really makes this a chip proof polish for a good few days.... bonus!

Please excuse the state of my nails and cuticles beauties (cringe). Anyone who has been following Miss Sunshine & Sparkle for a while will also know that I do have a bit of an obsession with glitter and I couldn't resist adding my favourite glitter polish over the top to make my nails dazzle.

I found that the Models Own Hed Kandi polish in Disco Heaven looked amazing over my cheerleading nail polish (sorry the polish didn't come with a name) and it really made my nails shimmer and sparkle.

So this is my favourite nail combination right now and I know a lot of you nail polish addicts will love this colour just as much as I do.

As I've said I've never seen Golden Rose polish sold in the UK (please let me know if you find somewhere that does) so whilst I was away I also picked up two gorgeous colours for you beauties for a giveaway.

Super pretty aren't they? So if your interested in winning these two polishes be sure to keep checking for updates on my blog as I will give you all the details on how you can win by the end of the week, alternatively follow me on Twitter @sunshinesprkle as I will announce the giveaway on there too.

Take Care Sweeties

A Day By The Lakes | OOTD

Hello beauties, as promised I have a quick OOTD post for you, these were taken from the weekend when we had some lovely weather. It wasn't quite warm enough to wear my legs bare, but I was determined that I wanted to wear some nice shorts out and my most recent ones from River Island were just calling out to me.

Top: Topshop (bought last year)
Cardigan: New Look I bought this at the beginning of the year but they have loads of similar ones in store)
Shorts with Belt: River Island
Shoes: New Look (bought last year)

Watch:Givenchy

Nails: Models Own Hed Kandi in Hedonist

For those of you who are looking closely at the pictures, that is bird poop that is on the ground surrounded by my feet. But it was dried out bird poop and I did avoid standing in it!. Who am I kidding? It was really gross, but it was a pretty place for a picture!

NOTD | Hedonist

Hi lovelies, a few of you may have seen my little haul post that went up last week and you will have known that I've finally got my hands on the raved about Models Own Hed Kandi polish in Hedonist. I can't tell you how much I am loving this shade on my nails, it's defiantly a stand out wow colour and it really is the only shade I am wanting to wear on my nails right now...its gorgeous!!

How amazingly bright is this polish? I love the bright neon coral shade of Hedonist, its so eye catching and is going to be the perfect polish on your nails this summer. Even though we are not in the summer months just yet, this Models Own polish is giving me so much joy and when painted on my nails I can't take my eyes off them.

The only slight downside to this polish, which is pretty noticable from the pictures is that Hedonist dries very matte. If you love a matte finish then this polish will be perfect for you just as it is. I personally prefer my nails to have a glossy shine to them so I've added a topcoat to make my nails gloss!

For you beauties wanting to see what Hedonist looks like with a topcoat, the pictures below show how this polish can be transformed.

Whether you wear this polish matte or shiny, either way its going to look amazing and it's defiantly become one of my all time favourite polishes.

What do you beauties think, and have any of you tired any of the other polishes from the Models Own Hed Kandi Collection?

NOTD | Models Own Hed Kandi

So if you saw my last post you will have seen that I've finally gotten my hands on some of the Model's Own polishes from the new Hed Kandi range. Now I won't go into detail about the ins and outs of this collection as I'm sure that most you will have already read all posts on these gorgeous neon colours or glitters and most probably have them in your own collection.

So all I'm going to be doing is showcasing them off in NOTD posts so you can see how pretty they really are. If you don't have any of the Hed Kandi polishes then maybe some these pictures will be the deciding factor for you!

I've paired the Hed Kandi polish in Hedonist with the super sparkly Hed Kandi polish in Disco Heaven.

Hedonist is the most amazing neon coral polish I've ever laid my eyes on, words cannot describe how pretty it is. It does have slightly more red tones to it rather than pink and dries very matte so I would defiantly opt for a topcoat or a sparkly polish like I've done. As a polish worn on it's own Hedonist is just beautiful and would looking striking on your toenails for the summer season.

As for Disco Heaven, I have to say it's not a polish I originally wanted. I ordered all three of my Models Own Hed Kandi polishes directly from the Models Own website. I knew when placing my order that I wanted to get Hedonist, Ibiza Mix and Beach Party which is the bright neon orange shade.

When my order arrived I spotted immediately that Models Own got my order mixed up and had sent me 'Disco Heaven'  instead of 'Beach Party. I was a tad disappointed so I contacted Models Own via Twitter and they happily told me that they would sort out the mix up.

However the more I looked at 'Disco Heaven' the more I liked it and the more I wanted to try out on my nails. So I decided to keep it, after all a girl can never have too many glitters can she?

Disco Heaven is a finely milled gold glitter jelly based polish (bit of a mouthful!) and to make it that extra bit special, Model's Own have thrown in the odd blue iridescent bits of glitter into the mix. When you at the polish up close you can see that there really is a disco going on it there so the name is very fitting for this polish.

Disco Heaven looks so pretty once its applied to your nails and it will only take one coat for an even coverage.. It literally makes it look as though your nails are sparkling and shimmering, especially when you look at your nails with you arm fully extended away from you. I've had so many compliments on this glitter polish as it's just so eye catching. I love it and think it will look lovely over most polishes. I'm super pleased that I decided to keep hold of it.

If you have tried Disco Heaven over any other polishes let me know as I would love to see your pictures, or let me know if your still loving these Models Own Hed Kandi polishes.

Payday Treats!

Hello lovelies. So this weekend was payday for a lot of us, and for me it certainly felt a long time coming. So this weekend I decided to treat myself to a few bits and bobs and I know that some of you will just love some of these little gems that I picked up.

From Left to Right

I was really excited when I hit the shops this weekend and it turned out to be a bit of a first for me in two ways. One I finally splurged and bought my first ever Mac Lipstick and two, I bought my first item of makeup from Topshop. I really think I'm the only blogger ever not to have tried either of these, but in my local town we have no where to buy Mac and our Topshop is so small that it doesn't sell any makeup at all....BOOO!!

When popping into Mac I was like a kid in a candy shop. I literally filled up every spare space of my hand with swatches, removed it all and repeated the whole process over again, I had so much fun! There have been loads of videos and posts up recently about everyone's top 5 Mac lipsticks, so I had an idea of which one I wanted. After much swatching I fell in love with 'Impassioned' which is the most gorgeous, brightest fuchsia I've ever seem.... I'm in love with it and can promise you that this will beauty will have a post all of it's own!

When hitting Topshop, again I knew that I wanted to try a lipstick. I originally thought that I wanted the famous 'Infared' but changed my find after swatching 'Rio Rio' which is a vibrant combination between red and orange and I think this will look perfect for summer.

Next up was some much needed hair dye, it's reached that time again where my last application of hair dye has completely washed out and faded. I was really impressed with the L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss last time, so thought I would use it again. This time I've opted for the shade 360 Black Cherry, which is a few shades darker than the mahogany shade I used before. I will let you beauties know how I get on with this.

Whilst I was in Boots, my mum was looking at the Revlon nail polishes. They had a two for £8 offer on, so we picked a colour each. This bight pink in shade in 185 Sweet Tart, really caught my eye and I defiantly don't have anything like this colour in my collection. The camera is showing it to be a bright barbie pink, but its more of a neon pink in its true form. Expect to see this in a NOTD.

I know every beauty blogger and nail polish addict will have seen all the polishes from the new Models Own Hed Kandi range by now, but I've only just got my hands on them. I ordered these directly from Models Own a few weeks ago, but they were sent to my sisters address and I've only just picked them up.

The two glitters 'Disco Heaven' left and 'Ibiza Mix' right, really make my eyes pop and my mouth drool. They are some of the prettiest glitters I've seen in a long time and I think they would look amazing paired with any polish. These two are defiantly a summer essential! As for 'Hedonist' all I can say is WOW, I suggest to anyone that they pick this up and see this in its true glory!

Lastly I picked up this denim shirt from River Island which retails at £30. I've had my eye on this for a long time and I'm so pleased I have it in my wardrobe now. Its a gorgeous thick, but soft denim and looks great worn undone with any top you decide to put underneath it. This looks flattering on anyone and is one of River Islands best sellers at the moment.

So that's everything for my payday treats, I hope you enjoyed beauties. No doubt you will be seeing most of the items here show of in a post of their own, but if there is any preference as to what you would like to see first just let me know and I will see what I cam do.

Zebra In The Savanna | NOTD

Hi beauties. Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! I was playing around with some nail art designs the other day and came up with this cute little zebra design that's super easy to do and I think you nail art fans will most definitely like it.

This nail art is a zebra printed design with a little twist. I've had nothing but compliments on my nails when sporting this look and what I love about it, is that you can always spice things up by changing the colour of your polish around.

I've always wanted to have ago at doing zebra print nails, but to be honest the thought of trying to draw strips over all 10 nails was daunting, especially when it would come to doing that pesky right hand. So I came up with the idea of alternating a different polish with the zebra print. It was much more pleasurable painting my nails, knowing that I only had to draw zebra stripes on four of my nails and I really liked the outcome.

To achieve this look you will need to get your hands on:

1. A white nail polish

2. A colour you want to alternate the zebra stripes with. I've used Models Own in Coral Reef which is a gorgeous mix of bright orange/red. I think with this design the brighter the polish the better, but it would look cute also with some cooler colours such as blue.

3. A black nail art pen for the zebra stripes. I've used the back pen from the Rio Professional Nail Art Kit (review here), but you can get your hands on loads of good ones these days, I know Topshop and Models Own do some good ones. If you don't have any nail art pens to hand, a good liquid liner or thin tip marker pen will also work.

To start off, you just need to paint your nails alternating the white polish and your other chosen one. I started off with using Coral Reef on my thumbs and worked my way out to the little pinkie. In the pictures I've done two coats, but do as many as you think is needed.

Once your polish has thoroughly dried, get your nail art pen and get ready to add some stripes to your nails which are painted white. When doing mine I didn't really use any sort of guidelines, I think as long as you paint a stripe that doesn't reach the other side of your nail you will be just fine. I did find this bit a bit tricky, but the important thing to remember beauties that there is no right or wrong when doing animal print, just go with the flow and see what outcome you get.

If any of you would like a guideline to go from there are loads of zebra print images online, or you could use the one I've found. As you can see mine is nothing like a real zebra, but it doesn't matter.

Once your stripes have all dried, just seal it all with a top coat to add some shine and to keep the chips at bay and your ready to go show your stripes off to the world!

I hope you liked this zebra design lovelies. As a lot of you know I have a huge obsession with anything nail art related, so if you do decide to have a go at this or have some of your own designs I would love to see them.
