This Girls Gotta Have Em | Hidden Heel High Tops

Hello beauties! I have a bit of a different 'This Girls Gotta Have Em Post' for you this evening. Each week as you know I show case you items that I'm dying to get my hands on. However this week I'm looking at an item that I'm not completely sure how I feel about, but the more I think about them and look at them, the more I find myself wanting a pair. These are of course the Hidden Heel High Tops!

I'm pretty sure that the hidden heel high tops can be bought from loads of places online, but the ones in the above picture are from River Island and retail at £40.00 each. The only place I've seen these sold in the high street stores has been River Island, but I can't say I've really shopped around for them. As most of you know I work at River Island and I run the ladies footwear department. I've known for a while that there's been lots of hype around these hidden heel high tops, but to be honest I completely didn't understand what the fuss was about and quite frankly didn't see the point in them. Why would you want to go though all of that pain of wearing a heel and not even be able to see the heel there? As you can see from the above pictures they look like any other high top/trainers, nothing special!

However last week we had a pair returned to us in store and I have to say my opinion quickly changed. My friend brought them though to me with much excitement (I think we are one of the only River Island stores that don't stock these yet and we've all been wondering what there like!). When I opened the footwear box I noticed that they were a good quality trainer, and although they were a UK size 6 (I'm a 4) I just had to try them on.

The hidden heel is actually a small wedge that fits inside the bottom of the shoe and although the shoes didn’t fit me, I found them surprisingly comfy. I also felt everything in my body straighten up, like how it would when you pop on some heels. The hidden heel high top made me more aware of my posture and lengthened the look of my legs. I wouldn’t class myself as a short person or someone who is tall, but just somewhere in the middle and I do like wearing shoes that give me a bit more height. However I only ever wear heels when it’s the right occasion  call for it and I think its fabulous you can get the confidence that a heel gives you in a casual way by wearing these heel high tops.

A big part of me still thinks that the idea of these shoes are just silly, and before I saw them and tried them on, every bit of me was telling me that I should not like them.......BUT I do, and I'm really hoping that we get them in my River Island so I can try a pair on that fit me and maybe buy them. If I do decide to get them I shall be sure to let you lovelies know how I get on, but in the meantime I would love to know your thoughts and what you think about this strange, yet awesome shoe.

Take Care Beauties

  8. I bought a pair today. They are inspired by Isabel Marant's sneakers and you'll see them being worn by Beyonce, Rosie Huntington, Alicia Keys etc. I was unsure at first but they are very comfy and look great with skinnies!

I bought a pair last weekend. I wanted the red ones, but they only had white - what to do?! Well I obviously just got the white ones! I wore them out that night, normally a no-no for any new shoes but after about 9 straight hours of standing/walking/dancing, they were still super comfortable, this is unheard of for me!
I am also 5'3 and I do NEED to wear heels when I go out as I live in Holland and everyone is so tall here so I get lost or elbowed in the face!
I was totally against these when I saw them in the magazines, but when I got into the shop they looked pretty good, are the most practical and logical thing ever, and as a bonus, they are really cheap!
Someone else mentioned posture, and I think that is important too, a heel makes you walk in a nicer way and just feel more confident (for me anyway), but proper shoes just aren't always practical.
I think I have fallen for these shoes, I honestly wish I had had a pair years ago.

I get the feeling that I may even go back to get the red ones......

  10. I brought a pair of these from river island the other day,Had been looking at the online but couldn't decide if i liked them and also if they would be comfy!! But i went into river island and tried a pair on and i cannot believe how comfy they are, There just amazing i also cant get over how they feel like your walking in just normal trainers...I would highly recommend these to anyone thinking of buying a pair. I also like the fact that you can dress then up for a night out or just chuck on a pair of skinny jeans and they will look nice either way!!

  14. Hey there! I just wanted to ask if you ever
have any trouble with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of hard work due to no data backup.
Do you have any methods to prevent hackers?
