American Express® brings the Glitz and Glamour of the Red Carpet to Milton Keynes and you're Invited!

Sponsored Post in Association with American Express®

I’ve always loved the theatre, going to the cinema and watching the release of new films. Regular readers here will know that I studied Drama at university, so the arts have always been something I’m hugely passionate about. Since becoming a mum last year, I rarely get those evenings out and these days, its usually a date night on the sofa for my fiancé and I with a good DVD and takeaway. However it’s still really important for me to make that extra effort and do some of the things I used to do pre baby. I know a lot of you feel the same as me and love a good film as much as I do, so I’ve teamed up with American Express to help spread the word on how you could register for a free ticket to the see the 61st BFI London Film Festival Opening Night gala film Breathe at a cinema near you.
For the past eight years, American Express has been the principal sponsor of the BFI London Film Festival, which takes place this year from the 4th-15th October. For those of you who don’t know, the BFI London Film Festival celebrates the best of British and International filmmaking in London, with 243 films from 67 countries being shown in the programme. It’s definitely an event any film buffs would love to attend; not to mention the glitz and glam of the red carpet! I’m one of these people who always reads magazines and browses the internet to see what all the superstars are wearing at these kinds of events and personally, I think it adds that extra bit of excitement to the Festival.

One of the benefits of being an American Express Cardmember is getting early access to these exclusive tickets at the 61st BFI London Film Festival and enjoying the excitement and buzz surrounding the Festival first hand. You might be thinking at this point, where does this leave me? Well this year American Express is helping you to be able to enjoy the BFI London Film Festival as much as everyone else and is offering members of the public who aren't based in London the chance watch a stream of the live red carpet event at a local Cineworld cinema, followed by the European premiere of Andy Serkis’ directorial debut of Breathe. All you have to do is register for one of these tickets and it’s as simple as that. To register for limited* tickets to see the 61st BFI London Film Festival Opening Night gala film Breathe at Brighton Cineworld courtesy of American Express visit www.seeitfirst.com/Amex2017  - Maximum 4 tickets per person. Subject to availability. Closing date 12pm, 27 September 2017. *Terms apply

I’m sure most of you will have seen the trailer for Breathe, but for those of you who’ve not heard of it, I can tell you now, it looks brilliant. Films that are based on true stories are always my favourite, which this one is. Breathe tells the story of a charismatic and adventurous man, Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield - Hacksaw Ridge) who is travelling and working in Africa, accompanied by his wife Diana (Claire Foy - Golden Globe Winner, The Crown). Robin is then struck down by polio and sadly becomes completely paralysed from the neck down. Diana brings her husband back home to England, where Robin has to become fully dependent on a respirator to ‘breathe’ for him. The film takes us on a journey showing the couples determination not to be imprisoned by Robin’s suffering and tells a story that is truly heart-warming; It’s story of courage, love and about living each breath as though it’s your last. Judging from what I have seen, Breathe looks as though it’s going to be visually beautiful and a story that stays with you long after watching it. The film will be released across the UK and Ireland on 27th October.

I’m beyond excited to see the premiere of Breathe and if you’re sat there thinking that’s your kind of film too, then all you have to do is register for limited* tickets to see the 61st BFI London Film Festival Opening Night gala film Breathe at Milton Keynes courtesy of American Express, just visit www.seeitfirst.com/Amex2017 - It’s as easy as that.
