Tag: Confessions of a Blogger

Image: We Heart It (edited by me)

Hi beauty babes. I saw this Tag: Confessions of a blogger the other day over on Kayleigh's blog, Couture Girl and on Sarah's at Oh So Glam, and you know me I love a good tag - I really enjoyed reading this one as all the questions are about blogging and its a fab way to find our blogging 'confessions'.

When did you start your blog?
I started my blog on the 11th October 2011, which seams so long ago now.

Have you had any past online presence before (other blog, YouTube)?
Nope none at all. The only online things I had done before my blog was MySpace which then lead to Facebook and that was about as exciting as it got!

Why did you start a blog?
Makeup and all things beauty related has always given me a lot to get excited about, and I remember one day turning to YouTube to see if I could find a video that would give me some tips and tricks on applying false lashes. It was from that moment that I got hooked on watching videos from beauty babes. As a lot of you know, YouTube and blogs really go hand in hand and it was then that this whole blogging world opened up to me. Before hand I had no idea what a blog really was, but as soon as I started reading blogs I felt so inspired to start one of my own. I thought that the content on beauty blogs really helped me with a lot of beauty related things and seeing as I had a similar passion to the girls behind these blogs, I thought I would love to get involved. It looked like a really fun thing to do, a chance to get creative and the chance for me to express what I'm passionate about.

When did you become serious about starting a blog?
Just before starting my blog I was going though a stage of really bad anxiety, I think I had seen about every doctor at my surgery because I was having panic attacks daily and at the time I didn't realise they were panic attacks. I remember sitting down with my mum and talking about how I needed to find away to take my focus off my anxiety because that was all I was thinking about and so decided to take the plunge and start a blog. Needless to say it really helped me being the constant anxious wreck that I was and I found that it was also something that I thoroughly enjoyed and loved.

What was your first post?
My first post wasn't anything too grand or special, but just a little introduction to Miss Sunshine & Sparkle, you can have a look at it here, if you wish to see it. When I look back at it now it does make me cringe, but makes smile at the same time as I can see just how far I have come  and developed as a beauty blogger and this makes me so proud.

What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
My biggest challenge has to be finding a good balance in my writing. For me I have always loved to write and get my thoughts down, but I found when I first started blogging it was hard for me to find my own personal style of writing. Over the year I've really tried to focus on getting a good balance of getting to the point of the post but try to inject some of my personality into my writing at the same time. Sometimes I find that its far too easy to go one side of this to the other, but right now I am really happy with the direction my writing is going in and feel as though the balance is just about there.

Where do you see your blog in one year?
Without a doubt I will still be blogging in one years time and all I would like to see over the next blogging year is to remain passionate and inject this into each and every post and to continue to grow as a blogger. I never thought this time last year my blog would be where it is now and I still get so overwhelmed at how lovely this blogging community is.

What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?
So far (touch wood) I've not had anything discouraging happen to me, but one thing I see a lot which really sometimes winds me up is seeing other bloggers tell/say how a blog should look or run to be successful. I think its important to give advice when needed, especially to lend a helping hand when another blogger needs help - But ultimately its your blog, a reflection of you and you should be able to have your blog however you like and run it in a way which makes you happy. One of the things I love about blogging is that there is NO right or wrong and I think this gets forgotten sometimes.

What's your lasting inspiration or motivation?
My biggest inspiration definitely has to be other from other bloggers and I think its wonderful how a blog/blogger can inspire you in so many ways, from helping you choose which products you want to buy next, or seeing a fantastic post that gets your own creative  flow on the go. I think as a blogger it's only a natural thing for wanting our blogs to grow and develop and there is nothing more special than seeing someone else' blog grow, I find that very inspiring.

I hope you enjoyed reading this tag and I tag all of you beauties to have ago yourselves! Let me know if you do in the comments below and as always I would love to know your thoughts.
